The following article covers managing the wireless network for your Cisco/Technicolor DPC3848 modem, including changing your current Network Name (SSID) and Password, or resetting them if you’ve forgotten your credentials. If you have a different modem, see here to identify the model and get steps for managing the network.

Good to know: If you're using Cogeco Wi-Fi Pods or extenders, the SSID and password will be managed through the Cogeco Wi-Fi app instead (see here for more information).

Select one of the following options to jump to a topic:

Finding your default Network Name and Password

You can find the default network name (SSID) and password (Pre-Shared Key) on the sticker on the back of your modem (see below). If your modem has been Factory Reset, it will default to these credentials.

Changing your Network Name and Password

You can manage your Cogeco Wi-Fi network in your modem settings by logging in through your web browser.

  1. Ensure your device is connected to your network, either through Wi-Fi or by connecting directly to the modem via an Ethernet cable.
  2. In your web browser, go to the address 192.168.0.1.
  3. Choose the language, if desired, then wait for the page to refresh.
  4. At the login screen, leave the User Name and Password fields blank.
  5. Select Log In.

  6. Select Wireless.
  7. Select Radio Settings.
  8. Enter the Wireless Network Name (SSID) of your choice for both the 2.4GHz network and the 5GHz network.
  9. Select Save Settings.
  10. Select Wireless Security.
  11. Enter the password of your choice in the Pre-Shared Key fields (enter the same password for both networks).
  12. Select Save Settings.

Resetting your Network Name and Password

If you’ve forgotten the password you assigned to your wireless home network, you’ll need to reset your Wi-Fi credentials by restoring your modem to its default settings.

Good to know: If you haven't assigned a unique network name (SSID) and password, it should still be using the default credentials found on My Account.

  • To restore default settings, press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds.
  • The reset button is in a hole on the back of the modem and can be pressed with a toothpick or other thin object.
  • You can now log in using the modem's default network name and password, and customize them if desired.
