Note: If you live in a Fibre-to-the-Home area, please see here for instructions on resetting your fibre-optic modem.

You can reset your modem through My Account, by unplugging it for a few seconds or using the reset button. After the reset, the modem will resynchronize with the Cogeco network, which can take up to 5 minutes.

Resetting through My Account

  1. Open My Account and log in.
  2. Select the Equipment tab.
  3. Look for your modem in the Current equipment table and select Reset.

Resetting by unplugging the modem

Unplug the power for 10 seconds and reconnect it. If your modem has a battery back-up you’ll need to use the reset button instead (see next section).

Resetting with the reset button

All of our modems have a reset button in a hole on the back of the modem. Use a straightened paperclip, toothpick, or similar object to press the button and hold it for 3 seconds (holding longer may Factory Reset the modem).

If your modem does not come back online, or if you are looking for more troubleshooting options, please refer to our article on Internet troubleshooting.

Good to know: If your wireless network no longer appears after the modem comes online, you may have Factory Reset your modem by holding the reset button for too long so it is now using its default network name and password. To customize your network again, please refer to our article on changing your Wi-Fi network name and password.
