No one likes surprise charges on their phone bill. Here's how to make sure you don’t pay for roaming when you don’t want to:
- Turn on Airplane Mode
- If you're traveling and don’t want to use your phone’s data, calls, or texts, just turn on Airplane Mode. This stops your phone from connecting to any mobile networks, so you won’t get roaming charges.
You can still use Wi-Fi while in Airplane Mode. - How to do it:
- On iPhone: Swipe down and tap the airplane icon.
- On Android: Swipe down and tap the airplane icon.
- If you're traveling and don’t want to use your phone’s data, calls, or texts, just turn on Airplane Mode. This stops your phone from connecting to any mobile networks, so you won’t get roaming charges.
- Near the U.S. border?
- If you're in Canada but close to the U.S. border, your phone might accidentally connect to a U.S. network. This can lead to unexpected roaming charges.
- To avoid this, manually select your network:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Cellular or Mobile Network.
- Tap Network Selection.
- Turn Automatic off.
- Choose Cogeco Mobile from the list.
- Extra tip
- You can also turn off Data Roaming in your settings. That way, even if your phone connects to another network, it won’t use data.
