If you’re using Cogeco Wi-Fi Pods, extenders or a modem that uses the Cogeco Wi-Fi app for network settings, some older devices may not be able to connect to your network if they have outdated security protocols. This is most common in IoT (Internet of Things) devices since they tend to stay in use longer than a computer or mobile device, and aren’t easily updated with newer security protocols.

What are IoT devices?

IoT devices are devices that use your Wi-Fi network to communicate but aren’t used to actually access the Internet. These devices include smart lights, smart appliances and health monitors.

What security protocols do my devices need to connect to my Wi-Fi network?

The Cogeco Wi-Fi app will only accept devices that support WPA2-PSK (AES) or higher.
