With parental control features, you can limit or block access to certain channels or types of programming. The control features can also prevent your kids from purchasing movies or services. These locks can be configured quickly and at any time while watching TV or using the guide.

Choose from one of the following topics to jump to a section:

Creating parental codes

  1. Press the TiVo® Central button on your remote.
  2. Select Menu.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Parental & Purchase Controls.
  5. Select Parental Controls
  6. Create a 4-digit Parental PIN.

If you also want to add a Purchase PIN, select PINs Setup, then create your 4-digit PIN.

Good to know:

  • Your Parental PIN and your Purchase PIN can be identical.
  • Parental control codes and settings also apply to Video On Demand and Pay-Per-View content, as well as all other i-Guide features.
  • Once you’ve set up your PIN, you can return to Parental Controls Setup to configure your program locks.
  • If you’ve forgotten either of your PINs, our Technical Support team can reset it.

Locking a channel

Here’s how to lock a channel:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote control once to open the Quick Menu.
  2. Select the Lock icon.

Good to know: If you want to lock a certain channel on all your receivers, you have to repeat these steps on each of your devices.

Hiding the titles of adult content

There’s a parental control setting so that all adult content titles appear as “Adult programming” in the guide.

To hide these titles, follow the steps below:

  1. Press the TiVo Central button on your remote control
  2. Select Menu.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Parental & Purchase Controls.
  5. Select Hide Adult Content.
