You can make IP Relay calls through the Cogeco IP Relay web platform, or by downloading the Cogeco IP Relay app from the iOS App Store or Google Play. Once you’ve registered, follow these steps to log in:

  1. Enter your access number (9-digit IP Relay number) into the Access Number field.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Select Log In.

You’ll be taken the IP Relay web platform where you can make IP to Voice, Hearing Carry Over (HCO), or Voice Carry Over (VCO) calls.

Note:

  • All IP Relay calls within North America are considered local.
  • International calls will be billable to your Cogeco phone number.
  • IP Relay does not support calls to 900 numbers, or IP to IP calls.

Making an IP to Voice call

While using IP Relay to Voice, you’ll send text messages to the operator, who’ll relay your messages by voice, and then relay the other party’s responses to you by text.

  1. Enter the number in the Number to dial field, or select it from your Address Book (web) or Contacts (mobile).
  2. Select IP Relay to Voice.

  3. Enter instructions for the operator.
  4. Click on the Call button. You’ll be connected to the next available IP Relay operator.

Making a Hearing Carry Over (HCO) IP Relay call

HCO is an option for individuals who are speech-disabled, but can hear the caller. This solution will create a three-way call between you, the operator, and the person you are calling, with your responses being relayed through the operator by text.

  1. Enter your own 10-digit number in the Number to dial field.
    • This does not have to be your Cogeco number, but the number must have three-way conference capability.
  2. Select HCO.

  3. Enter instructions for the operator.
  4. Click on the Call button. You’ll be connected to the next available IP Relay operator, who will then call you back at your phone number.
  5. Use three-way calling to add the party you would like to call.

Making a Voice Carry Over (VCO) IP Relay call

VCO is an option for individuals who can’t hear but prefer to use their own voice to talk. This solution will create a three-way call between you, the operator, and the person you are calling, with their responses relayed through the operator to you by text.

  1. Enter your own 10-digit number in the Number to dial field.
    • This does not have to be your Cogeco number, but the number must have three-way conference capability.
  2. Select VCO.
