Before getting started: This article covers the latest version of Cogeco Security, which is available for free to all Cogeco Internet subscribers. Learn more about updating to the new version.
All Cogeco Internet subscribers get 2 free Cogeco Security licences. If you need more, you can upgrade to Cogeco Security+ for unlimited licences. A licence is required for each device using Cogeco Security, but you can easily manage your licences during the installation process or from your main profile in Cogeco Security.
Good to know: Although you can have unlimited licences with Cogeco Security+, we’ll start you off with 10. If you ever run out of licences, just contact our tech support team and one of our reps will add another 10.

Managing licences during installation

Understanding licences vs. profiles
- A licence is required for each profile and device that’s currently using Cogeco Security.
- A profile can be used on multiple devices and you can switch between profiles on a device as needed. Learn more about managing profiles on Cogeco Security.
- Additional licences will be used for profiles with multiple devices. For example, if you have Cogeco Security installed on 3 devices using your main profile, and then set up 2 child profiles, each with 1 device, that would use 5 licences total.
- If you uninstall Cogeco Security on a device or release its licence, this will not delete the associated profile. If you use that profile on another device, it’ll keep the same Family Rules settings. Keep in mind that a child profile with no assigned devices will still use one of your licences.
