You can set up parental controls through the Family Rules settings for each child profile you create so each child has an appropriate level of access. You can then manage your Family Rules from your main CLIENT profile on any device.

Setting up Family Rules for a new profile

Whenever you create a new child profile, you’ll be prompted to set Family Rules. You can start this process one of the following ways:

Modifying Family Rules for an existing profile in Cogeco Security

  1. Log in to My Account in a browser.
  2. Select Cogeco Security from the left menu.
  3. Select Manage my licences.
  4. Select the profile you want to modify.

  5. Select the Daily Time Limits, Bedtime or Content Filtering tab.

    • If a profile has no assigned devices, you’ll be able to manage basic settings but won’t see Family Rules options.
    • If a profile only has iOS devices assigned to it, you won’t see an option for Daily Time Limits since the feature is not compatible with iOS.
  6. Select the pencil button for the setting you want to change.

  7. Apply your changes and select the checkmark button to save.

Daily Time Limits

  • Daily Time Limits cap the total amount of time the user can access their device each day.
You can set separate limits for weekdays and weekends.
  • The user will get warnings on the device when getting close to the time limit, and then the device will lock when time runs out.
  • This feature is not available on iOS devices.

Bedtime

  • Bedtime locks the device for a set window of time in every 24-hour period, which can be customized to be anywhere from 6 p.m. to 12 p.m.
  • You can set the device to lock at different times for school nights and weekend nights.
  • On an Android device, you can also enable App Control to choose which apps are affected by Daily Time Limits and/or Bedtime rules.

Content Filtering

  • Content Filtering blocks content by category, such as Adult content, Drugs, and Shopping and auctions.
