When an email arrives in your inbox, you’ll see who it’s from and the subject line. But there’s a lot more information in the email that can be useful when troubleshooting. This information can be found in the email header. The email header is a section of code at the top of an email that is not normally displayed. If one of our tech support reps asks you to send them an email header, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to Cogeco Webmail.
  2. Right-click on an email from your inbox or another folder and select Show Original.

This will display the email’s full contents in plain text, which will contain the email header. You can then copy and paste the email’s full contents into an email to send to tech support.

Good to know:

  • You can view these same email headers in most email client programs.
  • Email headers in Webmail will always be displayed in English, regardless of your selected language.
