Why don't I have access to some American or overseas streaming services?

Although some foreign networks are licensed to broadcast in Canada, the rights to certain programs are given to Canadian broadcasters who will offer the same programming. For example, NBC is available in Canada, but Global TV owns the rights to Saturday Night Live, while CTV owns the rights to The Tonight Show. To ensure that customers in Canada are streaming these programs from the Canadian broadcaster who owns the rights, sometimes only the Canadian streaming services are available.

See below for some popular foreign streaming services and where to find their content. If you are unsure of the Canadian streaming service for a particular program, you can check the TV Guide online or your on-screen guide to find it on a Canadian channel and check their streaming service. You can also search for streaming availability on justwatch.com/ca.

Streaming Service Approximate Canadian Equivalent
HBO Max Crave+Movies+HBO
BritBox (not available through EPICO) Add-on through Amazon Prime Video
NBC Peacock CTV or Global (varies by program)
Hulu Varies by program

Note: The Canadian service may not have all of the same content available as the original service.
