If you suspect your number has been hijacked:
- Act immediately. Call our fraud department or visit a Cogeco store to restore your SIM. Ask for an account lock.
- Notify your bank and credit card companies: Freeze accounts and watch for unauthorized transactions.
- Reset passwords for email, banking, and social media.
- Switch to app-based 2FA instead of SMS codes.
- Report to the CAFC. antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca or call 1-888-495-8501.
- File a police report. This may be required for investigations or insurance claims.
- Check your credit report with Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada to detect new fraudulent accounts.
