What should I do if I'm a victim of port-out fraud?

If you're a victim or port-out fraud, follow these steps:

  1. Contact us immediately. Ask for your number to be restored and for a fraud lock.
  2. Notify your bank. Freeze accounts, request new cards, and monitor transactions.
  3. Reset all passwords. Switch to app-based authentication instead of SMS.
  4. Report the incident. 
    • Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre: 1-888-495-8501
    • Local police (obtain a case number)
    • CRTC (if telecom-related)
  5. Check your credit reports. Contact Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada.
