How can I tell if Cogeco Security (F-Secure) is active on my computer?

Once Cogeco Security (F-Secure) has been installed on your computer, you can quickly check to make sure it is active for your peace of mind.

If Cogeco Security has not been installed, see here for instructions on how to add it.

Confirming on Windows

If Cogeco Security has been installed on your Windows computer, you will see a Cogeco Security icon in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen.

To validate which features are active, such as virus protection or browsing protection, click on the icon to open Cogeco Security. The main page will have an icon next to each feature to indicate whether it is active, partially active, or disabled.

Confirming on Mac

If Cogeco Security has been installed on your Mac, you will see a Cogeco Security icon in the toolbar at the top right of the screen. Rolling your mouse over the icon will provide more detail on the status.

If virus protection has been disabled this will be indicated with a red x.

If browsing protection has been disabled this will be indicated with a yellow exclamation point.

To re-enable any of these features, click on the icon and select Preferences.
