Here's a guide for making local and long distance calls:

Local calls: Dial area code + 7-digit phone number
Long distance calls within Canada and to the United States (including Hawaii and Alaska):

Dial 1 + area code + 7-digit phone number

Note: If you have the Freedom package, which includes Canada/US long distance, you don't need to include 1 before the area code.

International calls to the Caribbean: Dial 1 + area code + phone number
Other international calls: Dial 011 + country code + area code + phone number

For more information about our international long distance rates, consult our International calls page (Residential), or International rates list (Business).

International calling and toll fraud

To prevent fraud and unauthorized calls, international calling (outside Canada and the United States) is disabled by default. If you hear a message saying that it’s disabled when you try to make a call, contact us to enable it.

Fraudsters sometimes attempt to use other people’s numbers to make long distance calls so they aren’t the ones charged for them. This is a widespread issue that affects many providers.
