When you are using Cogeco Wi-Fi Pods, your network name and password are controlled through the Cogeco Wi-Fi App, available on iOS or Android. For more info on getting started with the app, please refer the article What is the Cogeco WiFi app and how do I use it?
Good to know: Since the Cogeco Wi-Fi App uses your My Account credentials, there’s no need to worry if you forget your Network Name or Password. You can always access them easily from the app, and if you forget your My Account credentials you can just reset them from the login page.
Changing the Network Name
- From the Home screen, tap the Menu button.
- Select the Adapt tab and tap Edit next to your Wi-Fi name.
- Enter the new name and tap Done to save it.
Changing the Password
- From the Home screen, tap the Menu button.
- Select the Access tab.
- Choose from Home, Guests, or Internet Only to set a different password for each level of access (see below for more info on access types).
- All users will select the same Network Name, so the password will determine which level of access they get.
- Tap on the share icon to send the credentials to people you trust.
- Tap on a password to see which devices are currently using it.
- Select Edit to change your password.
Home
Home gives full access, including the ability to interact with all other devices on your network (smart home devices, Chromecasting, etc.).
- Tap New Home Password (iOS) or the + icon (Android) to add more passwords. Each one will have the same level of access but they can be used to track which devices are connected.
Guests
Guests gives temporary access, and you can specify to which devices on your network the users will have access. You can set up multiple Guest passwords, each with access to different devices.
- Tap New Guest Password (iOS) or the + icon (Android)
- Enter a Guest Name. Note that this is not an SSID, this is just for you to identify the different setups. The user will still select your regular Network Name.
- Enter a password.
- Select a time limit for the password to be auto-disabled.
- Select the devices to which this password will have access. For example, you could give a user access to your TV to use Chromecast, without giving them access to your full network.
Internet Only
Internet Only users can only access the Internet and will not be able to control other devices on your network.
- Tap New Internet Only Password (iOS) or the + icon (Android) to add more passwords. Each one will have the same level of access but they can be used to track which devices are connected.
- You will also have the option to select a time limit for the password to be auto-disabled.
